Changing your SmarterMail Password

It is very important that you do this.  SmarterMail ships with a default username and password of admin.  If you fail to change your password, it could result in your VPS getting hacked.

Also, if you use the Plesk control panel, please make sure to tell Plesk what the new password is by following the steps in our KB article.

1. Remote Desktop into your server and click the Login to SmarterMail icon on your desktop

2. Your initial SmarterMail login information can be found in your welcome e-mail.

3. Go to the Settings menu and select General Settings

4. There are five fields on this form.  The first field is the username, which by default is admin.  You can change this if you like, but it is not necessary.  For Old Password, enter the password you just logged in with (by default, this password is admin.) Then, select a new password and fill in the Old Password field and the New Password field and hit Save.
